    2019 elections will shock Nigerians and the World, Olumba Olumba releases prophecies


    The spiritual leader of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu, has disclosed that 2019 elections will shock both Nigerians and the world.

    Olumba, however, stated that the shock will not bring about panic but that God had already restored peace in Nigeria.

    In his New Year message at his church headquarters in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, the clergyman called on Nigerians to live in peace, forgive each other, care for one another and persist in doing good only.

    Olumba warned against killings and political violence in 2019, adding that immediate recompense will frequently be the lots of many.

    He said: “The general elections in Nigeria holding from next month hold surprises and will shock Nigerians and the entire world. But the children of God have no need to panic. God the Father has restore peace all over Nigeria.

    “Nigerians should learn to live in peace, care for and forgive themselves in 2019. This year, many will have immediate pay back for whatever they do.”

    The British Prime Minister, Theresa May on Tuesday, noted Nigeria was the home of the highest number of poor people in the world.
    She said this while observing that Africa was home to a majority of the world’s fragile states, and a quarter of the world’s displaced people.
    Speaking in Cape Town, South Africa, May said 87 million Nigerians were living below the poverty line of $1 and 90 cents per day.
    She said, “Much of Nigeria is thriving, with many individuals enjoying the fruits of a resurgent economy, yet 87 million Nigerians live below $1 and 90 cents a day, making it home to more very poor people than any other nation in the world.”
    The Prime Minister noted that achieving inclusive growth was a major challenge across the world.
    She stressed that Africa needs to create 50,000 new jobs per day to keep employment rate at its current levels till 2035.
    “I am unashamed about the need to ensure that our aid program works for the UK.
    “Today I am committing that our development spending will not only combat extreme poverty but at the same time tackle global challenges and support our own national interest.
    “It is in the world’s interest to see that those jobs are created, to tackle the causes and symptoms of extremism and instability, to deal with migration flows and to encourage clean growth,” she added.

    Police stom hotel in Lagos, arrest 57 suspected homosexuals during initiation into gay club



    The CP said that investigation into the case was ongoing and that the suspects would be charged to court soon.
    But some of the suspects who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria denied the allegations.
    They said that they were at the hotel to attend a wedding and birthday parties. One of the suspects, James Obialu, said that he was a dancer and had come to the party to perform before he was arrested.
    “I’m not gay, I’m a dancer and I was there to perform before I was arrested. I’m a responsible citizen and I work at the Alimosho General Hospital as a counsellor for those living with HIV,” he said.
    Another suspect, Samuel Olarotimi, 22, a graduate of Mass Communication from the Yaba College of Technology, said that there were other females in the hotel who were not arrested.
    “I was there for a birthday party which started late. About eight ladies were at the bar with us, while some other ladies were dressing up in their rooms.
    “I don’t know why the Police refused to arrest the females but brought us here as alleged homosexuals,” he said.
    One of them, Bob China, said that he accompanied his friend, a caterer, to deliver food at the party but was arrested while waiting outside the hotel.
    The Lagos State Police Command have arrested 57 suspected homosexuals who were caught in homosexual activities in the Egbeda area of the state.
    The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Edgal Imohimi, confirmed the arrest to newsmen during a news conference on Monday. He said that the suspects were picked up on Sunday at 2 a.m. while they were performing gay initiation rites for newly recruited members.

    “Intelligence gathered revealed that some youths will be initiated into a Gay/Homosexual Club between 1 a.m and 2 a.m. at Kelly Ann Hotel/Events Centre, located at No. 3-7, Adenrele St., Egbeda, an action contrary to Section 1 (1) of Same Sex Marriage, Act 2014.
    “Consequent upon this, some operatives from the Shasha and Idimu Police stations stormed the venue and met no less than 80 young men.
    “They were taking different types of drinks, including banned substances such as Tramadol, and Shisha laced with substances suspected to be marijuana.
    “As soon as they sighted the Police, they ran into different directions, but the team arrested 57 of them,” he said.

    9 bankers declared wanted for stealing customers’ deposits totaling over N500million


    The Nigerian Police force has declared nine bankers wanted for stealing various amount of money from depositors of a new generation bank, the police acted on petitions it received from the bank and its customers on the disappearance of a large sum of money from their various accounts.
    They include: Oshiojum Chibuzor Wilson, Juwon Faromoh, Akanaga Christian, Linda Chekwube, Matthew Akpan, Oluwasoji Ajetumobi, Nelson Omuzagha, Ogunlaja Ganiyu and Adeyemi Omitogun.

    Atleast Five (5) persons have been confirmed dead while Nine (9) persons critically injured out of eighteen (18) workers carrying out the construction as abuja four storey building collapsed amidst tears of sympathizers. an eyewithness who prefered to be unanimous explained that the incident occurred about 1:45pm, along Obafemi Awolowo way, Jabi-Abuja.

    Lagos State has been ranked the third worst city for humans to live in the world. 👀 😒😒😒 👀

    This was disclosed in the latest 2018 Global Livability Index released by The Economist Intelligence Unit and World Bank.

    Lagos ranked 138 out of the 140 cities considered for the ranking.
    According to the latest ranking, Lagos only outperformed Dhaka in Bangladesh and Damascus in war-torn Syria.

    Out of an overall score of 100, Lagos was rated 38.5 points.
    The ranking was based – Social Stability, Healthcare, Education, Culture and Environment and Infrastructure.

    Other African cities that featured on the index were Dakar (Senegal), which was ranked 131 out of 140; Algiers (Algeria) – 132; Doula (Cameroun) – 133; Tripoli(Libya) – 134 and Harare (Zimbabwe) – 135;
    Vienna, the Austrian capital, was ranked the most liveable city in the world, as Melbourne finally lost the title after a seven-year reign. The Japanese city of Osakawas adjudged the third most liveable city.

    Canada performed well as well, with Toronto tying with Tokyo for seventh position, while Calgary and Vancouverin same country emerged fourth and sixth place respectively.
    Hamburg and Helsinki, that held tenth and ninth place last year, dropped out of the top 10. But this year’s ninth place spot went to Copenhagen.
    The report attributed Austria’s capital’s rise to the top to increased security scores due to a return to relative stability across much of Europe after high-profile terrorist attacks in recent years.

    “Every city is assigned a rating of relative comfort for over 30 qualitative and quantitative factors across five broad categories: stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education, and infrastructure.

    “Each factor in a city is rated as acceptable, tolerable, uncomfortable, undesirable or intolerable. For qualitative indicators, a rating is awarded based on the judgment of in-house analysts and in-city contributors.

    “In the Stability category, the following were considered: prevalence of petty crime, the prevalence of violent crime, the threat of terror, threat of military conflict and the threat of civil unrest.

    “For Health rating, the following were considered: availability of private healthcare, quality of private healthcare, availability of public healthcare, quality of public healthcare and availability of over-the-counter drugs.

    “Humidity/temperature rating, discomfort of climate to travellers, level of corruption, social or religious restrictions, level of censorship, sporting availability, cultural availability, food and drink and consumer goods and services were considered for the culture and rating.

    “Availability of private education, quality of private education, public education indicators were used for the education rating,” it said.

    He wrote, “AgP Yemi Osinbajo has directed the termination of the appointment of the DG of the DSS, Mr. Lawal Musa Daura.
    "Mr. Daura has been directed to hand over to the most senior officer of the State Security Service until further notice."

    'How I escaped from my abductors and stayed on a tree for 11-hours' - Senator Dino Melaye narrates his ordeal


    Senator Dino Melaye in a lengthy interview with Premium Times narrated his own version of what he said unfolded along the Abuja-Lokoja Highway which led to his disappearance for almost 24-hours.

    The senator confirmed he was not abducted, but that he was not the architect of his ordeal either. He said he was travelling from Abuja to Lokoja for a court appearance on Thursday morning and shortly after passing Gwagwalada, which is roughly 50 kilometres southwest of Abuja, a convoy of three vehicles drove recklessly by his vehicle, intercepting him on the highway and forcing him to stop.  

    According to him, the assailants tried to open fire to force themselves into the vehicle, only to realise that it was a well-fortified vehicle with bullet-proof. Without much time to waste at the scene, the attackers devised an alternative.

    “They started shouting that they wanted to burn me, they said ‘burn him, burn him down,’ and crossed the road to look for tyres to set the vehicle on fire,” Melaye said. As the attackers dispersed in different directions to scavenge for tyres, Melaye said he feared for his life and made instinctive calculation to jump into the bush and bolt, rather than remained in the car in defiance.

    “I jumped into the bush, and I started running. They pursued me and I was able to outmanoeuvre them and climb a tree. I was on top of the three when I saw them run past looking frantically for me. When they didn’t find me, they also ran back” he said.

    The senator said it was on the tree that he perched until his assailants left. While on the tree, he saw four of them passing, but remained hushed to avoid being detected.  He would go on to spend 11 hours trying to ensure that he was no longer at immediate risk from his assailants and navigating his way out of the overgrown weeds.  

    He also said he could not identify any of them, even if there is an identification parade by authorities, largely because he was more apprehensive of his survival than anything else at that traumatic moment. The senator said he believed those who attempted to attack him were police-sponsored elements. He said when he appeared in court on Wednesday for his attempted suicide trial at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Apo, he saw some men trailing him after the proceeding.  

    He described the vehicles the men were driving as two Toyota Hilux trucks and a Toyota Sienna minivan. “They were exactly the same vehicle that were used to attack me on Thursday morning,” he said.  He was driving to Lokoja in a vehicle not previously known with him, in a bid to disguise his move to those who were trailing him.  

    “I was going in a totally different vehicle, but I asked my brother to drive behind me in an SUV as a back-up. But I was shocked to see the attackers run into the middle, creating wall between my brother and I before attacking me” he said.

    He added that “to begin with, the federal government and the police in particular have combined five cases against me in court. I have never declined to appear in court for trial in all the five separate cases”. 

    He said the claim that he was trying to avoid court appearance should immediately ring false to lucid minds, especially since he was in court just a day before. Besides, the court appearance in Lokoja was more about symbolism than substance. This was because he had learnt from his lawyer, Mike Ozekhome, that the case would not be heard on Thursday because prosecution lead had already written to notify of his unavoidable absence and seek adjournment.

    “Alex Izinyon is the prosecutor and he had written to my lawyer to inform him that he would not be in court on Thursday and that the judge should adjourn the matter. So why would I not want to be in court when I know that nothing would happen to me?” I have been attending all previous court hearings. I have been told that the prosecutor wanted an adjournment. I have been granted bail long ago which I continue to enjoy. So why would I not want to go to court that day? There is no sense in that claim. It is completely against logic,”Melaye said.

    The presidency has announced steps being taken by the Federal Government to stem the killings in Zamfara State.
    Several persons have been reported dead in Zamfara State, with over 12,000 said to be displaced so far.
    Spokesperson of President Muhammadu Buhari, Garba Shehu, has revealed the Federal Government’s plans to stop the killings.
    Writing on his Twitter, he shared that a 1000-strong military force has been assembled, comprising of the army, air force, police and the civil defence.
    The Nigerian Air Force has also deployed fighter aircraft, he shared.
    The Federal Government has assembled 1000-strong military force, compromising the army, air force, police and the civil defence to launch fierce attacks on the bandits terrorising the villages and towns of Zamfara State.
    Following directives by President @MBuhari, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has begun the deployment of fighter aircraft to Katsina, the airport with the closest proximity to Zamfara State to make for immediate and effective response to the menace of the bandits.
    This had not been possible in the past because there was no fuel depot facility in Katsina, but NAF has devised a way around the problem.
    The President has also authorised the engagement by NAF, of advanced satellite surveillance technology to help in accurate detection of movement and locations of the bandits.
    The government had to go to this extent because of the limitations of conventional surveillance, as the use of satellite technology could make the task of NAF less problematic.
    Following directives from the President, at the weekend, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Sadiq Abubakar, was in Gusau where he met the Deputy Governor of the State.
    The Chief of Air Staff reiterated the President’s pledge that he would never abandon victims of attacks to their fate reaffirming that security remains one of the cardinal pillars of his campaign promises and no leader would be happy to see his own citizens killed by criminal groups across the country.
    It will be recalled that since his election, the President has kept faith with his promises to re-equip and motivate the country’s military and other security services.
    The army and other security services are now better equipped and motivated to face the challenges of their responsibilities.
    The Presidency, therefore, appeals to all Nigerians to unite and speak with one voice on security issues and urges politicians to stop exploiting national security challenges.
    Those praying for the President to fail in this effort can be likened to one stabbing oneself in the heart and celebrating about it.
    In this regard, security should not be reduced to petty politics as doing so could only embolden the terrorists and other murderous gangs.
    We therefore appeal to members of the Nigerian media to avoid unhelpful and deleterious sensationalism in the coverage of events that border on national security.
    The media should under no circumstances make the bandits or terrorists feel like super stars because doing so could hurt all of us.
    Terrorists seek to achieve maximum publicity and they do so by launching large scale attacks on soft targets and the media must resist every attempt to play into their hands unwittingly.

    Minister of Power, Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola has debunked claims that the Third Mainland Bridge will be closed for 27 months.

    The Federal Government had released a statement saying the bridge will be closed between the 27th and 29th of July.

    News had however spread saying the bridge will be closed for 27 months.

    Fashola, in an interview with Channels TV, said the news is false.

    The main suspect, Adeyemi Alao, who made this confession during his parade by the Ondo State Police Command in Akure, the state capital, said the two other suspects took to their heels after killing the final year student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko.
    Explaining how the young lady was murdered, Adeyemi said her girlfriend of eight years was killed by the other two suspects but he dug the grave inside his room where the girl was buried.
    Giving the graphic details, Adeyemi said “Khadijat was my girlfriend since 2010 and she visited me to help her in writing her final project in school. She slept in my place on Thursday and left on Friday the following day.
    “She sent a text message to me on Monday, 2nd July that I should send some money to her. But I was surprised to see her that same Monday when she came with two boys to my room.
    “I left her in my room with the two boys but when they called me some 30 minutes later, one of the guys brought out a gun and ordered me to kneel down while one of them was making love to Khadijat who was naked on my bed”
    Adeyemi said further, “Khadijat was begging them to leave and promising not to tell anyone about what happened but they strangulated her in the process and ordered me to go and bring digger and shovel.
    “I thought they wanted to use that to escape from the scene of the incident but when I entered the room they were still there and ordered me to dig the grave where we buried her in my room and covered it with the rug. ”
    Asked why he failed to alert his parents or tenants when he was ordered to look for the diggers, he said “the tenants were busy watching World Cup match and the noise from the home theater in my room was too loud to make them know what was happening even when we were digging the grave in my room.
    “The two boys left after burying her and I couldn’t sleep in my room that day and I had to sleep in my brother’s room because I wasn’t myself and I couldn’t tell anyone because no one will believe my story.
    “I don’t know the two guys, though they have visited my place thrice with Khadijat I don’t know them or their names. I have been dating Khadijat since 2010, she was my girlfriend but I knew nothing about these guys, she invited them, I don’t know their names but I can recognise them.”
    When queried the motive behind the killing, the suspect said: “I did not kill Khadijat for money ritual, though I joined Yahoo business this year and never made any headway I don’t plan to do any ritual”.
    But the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Mr Femi Joseph, described the suspect defence as infantile saying Adeyemi implicated some people while the command has been trying to get those people.
    He said, “his defence is very infantile and does not hold any water and I am very sure in the next few hours he should begin to talk”.
    Speaking on the suspect arrest, Joseph said the command was alerted by an informant while the police from the state responded and arrested the suspect at his residence.
    He said “we met the suspect who happened to be the boyfriend to the late Khadijat, in his room trying to pack the remains in a sack and this is to tell you that he killed Khadijat.
    “According to him, he mentioned some other suspects now at large but we found that he single-handedly looked for digger, shovel, dug a grave in his room and buried Khadijat
    “The Police immediately swooped on him, and on close observation of his residence, it was discovered that the suspect had actually buried the missing girl for six days and was planning to exhume the remains and finally dispose of them.
    “According to him, he was not comfortable with the stench coming from the decomposed body as it was not properly buried.
    “The suspect will soon appear in court while the effort is on to arrest the alleged accomplices.

    PDP reveals how APC plans to share Abacha loot

    The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday, claimed that the leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), were planning to syphon the repatriated $322million (about N115billion) Abacha loot, under the guise of sharing the money to the poor in 19 states.
    According to a statement issued in Abuja by Kola Ologbondiyan, its National Publicity Secretary, PDP said of the estimated 300,000 households listed as beneficiaries, more than 90 per cent are phony family names supplied by “fraudulent government officials, as conduit to channel the repatriated money to APC leaders and the cabal.”
    The party further said investigation revealed that “the cabal is responsible for the stampede to spend the money without recourse to the constitutionally required approval and appropriation of the National Assembly.”
    PDP added: “It is more shocking to note that President Muhammadu Buhari, who is regularly availed of information, particularly on corruption issues, approved the dispensing of the money, without the required legislative due diligence process, thereby opening the vaults for looters in the APC.
    “While the PDP has nothing against any genuine plan to benefit Nigerians in any way, we believe that President Buhari is aware of the requirements of the constitution regarding the disbursement of funds belonging to the federation and we urge Nigerians to hold him responsible for this wicked plot by APC interests to use innocent citizens as cover to loot the repatriated fund.”
    The PDP called on the National Assembly, to protect the interest of Nigerians. by immediately employing its legislative instruments to stop the re-looting of the repatriated money.

    In a grueling 10-minute display of eating prowess, competitors in the annual July 4 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest shove as many of the famous franks down their throats as they can – and risk a litany of potential health complications.


    “It’s a sport for reasons that are not clear,” David Poppers, a gastroenterologist at NYU Langone Health, told The Daily News. “And it’s fascinating in terms of what the body can handle and adapt to, but competitive eating is certainly not recommended.”

    Poppers explained that competitive eaters practice techniques that allow their stomachs to expand over time; eating different kinds of foods in larger and larger quantities for months on end.

    “They’ll alter their diets probably several days before competition and only take in liquids and protein supplements,” he said. “But medical professionals do not advocate this. There are plenty of other ways to celebrate the 4th of July.”

    People who eat or drink in excess, like those who will be competing at Nathan’s Wednesday, can suffer abdominal pain, discomfort, nausea and may even vomit. Poppers said that they can choke on what they’re eating and are at risk of aspirating – which is when the stomach’s contents leak into the lungs mid-vomit, which can cause pneumonia.
    “Heavy retching can develop small tears in the esophagus,” Poppers said. “Or you can develop what’s called a Mallory-Weiss tear, a rip in the lining of the tissue where the stomach and esophagus meet.

    “Longer term, I’d be concerned about stretching the stomach over time,” he said. “There haven’t been many studies conducted in the field of competitive eating but there’s some evidence that it can affect the stomach’s ability to contract after eating, a condition known as gastroparesis. The stomach can’t empty properly, making the patient feel full and nauseous all the time and can cause vomiting.”

    When competitive eaters train for their sport, they confuse the signals from the gut that alert the brain when it’s full and should stop eating, effectively obscuring the system that initiates stomach contractions and the digestive process. This in turn allows them to eat more but hinders their body’s “ability to begin emptying.”

    “Vomiting – a disqualification at Nathan’s as far as I know – in a chronic way from overeating puts you at risk of tearing the stomach and esophagus,” Poppers said, “and severe retching can cause an esophageal rupture.”

    The Brooklyn tournament, which has been crowning super eaters since 1972, takes place each year adjacent to the original Nathan’s Famous location on the corner of Surf and Stillwell Aves. in Coney Island. The coveted Mustard Belt prize has been Joey Chestnut’s to defend for 10 out of the last 11 years. The 34-year-old holds the all-time record for the contest, managing to eat 72 franks last year in 10 minutes.

    But virtual newcomer Carmen Cincotti — who finished in second place last year — has been preparing for Wednesday’s rematch.

    “In the off season, I stick to vegetables and things that are heavy in water – like a head of lettuce,” he said. “But leading up to Nathan’s, I’ll eat a lot of hot dogs: I’ll dunk the buns in the water, shove two in (my mouth) at a time.”

    Cincotti said on Tuesday that in the hours after the tournament, the hot dogs he wolfs down will settle and that process will be uncomfortable, but not necessarily painful.

    “I’m used to it,” he assured The News. “I’ve built up my stomach to hold all this food.”

    Cincotti — who will celebrate his 25th birthday with or without a win on Independence Day — isn’t too concerned with the health risks but says he’s in “close contact” with his general practitioner. The challenger said that if his doctor gives him a “red flag” or expressed concern about his well-being, he’d give up competitions.

    “My safety and health are number one,” he told The News. “He (Cincotti’s doctor) thinks it’s funny. It helps that I’m young and that I’m relatively new to the sport and have only been doing it for three years.”

    So far, the eating phenom has had only a few minor health setbacks, like a vitamin deficiency that “could’ve been from anything,” but he said that his doctor runs frequent scans and blood tests to make sure he’s not in danger for prediabetes or high blood pressure.

    Cincotti, like many other pro eaters isn’t remotely obese, weighing in at 150 pounds, according to reports. But he’s still able to pack it away. Last year, he downed 60 hot dogs in 10 minutes.

    He boasts the world record for chili eating, which he said he broke in February at a competition in Orlando when he “basically drank” just under two-and-a-half gallons in under six minutes. Last year, he ate 61 and three-quarters ears of corn in 12 minutes and 101 links of bratwurst in 10 minutes. Just two weeks ago, Cincotti says, he packed away 22 pounds of strawberry shortcake.

    “I try to stay away from sugar otherwise,” he said of the sweet contest, “because the after effects of that, I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. I’ll let you use your imagination.”
